    • The Comminges Circuit Museum, the epic story of motorsports in Saint-Gaudens

Nestled at the foot of the Pyrenees, Saint-Gaudens is not just a charming stop in Haute-Garonne. It is the birthplace of a world-renowned motorsport legend. The Comminges Circuit Museum invites you on a journey through time, following in the footsteps of international drivers between 1925 and 1956, who thrilled this region with the most prestigious Grand Prix races.

A legendary route at the heart of international history

Founded by the humanist and motorsport enthusiast Eugène Azémar, the Comminges circuit has established itself as one of the most demanding theaters of European speed.

Over the decades, the track has evolved, from the original 27-kilometer loop to the more technically demanding pre- and post-war versions. This memorial site, now honored with the FFVE's "Site of Automotive History" label, is the result of four decades of passionate collecting. Through a unique collection of archives from around the world, the museum brings to life the fierce rivalries between, for example, the Talbot and Bugatti teams, Alfa Romeo and Ferrari, and evokes the raw elegance of the cars that graced the Comminges tarmac during the ACF (Automobile Club de France) races.

A sanctuary for automotive heritage and transmission

Far more than a simple exhibition of documents, the museum aims to be a space for sharing and learning, where the emotion of the paddocks of yesteryear is palpable. The immersive scenography allows visitors to delve into the private lives of champions such as Sommer, Ascari, and Behra, whose exploits are immortalized by period posters, press accounts, and rare film screenings. The museum highlights the tragic and fascinating evolution of racing safety, explaining in an educational manner why this epic era came to an end in 1955, following new international regulations.

The experience appeals to all generations : while those feeling nostalgic revel in anecdotes about the 18 Grand Prix cars and 16 Grand Prix motorcycle races, younger visitors can admire exceptional Formula 1 replicas. This vibrant venue continues to be the heart of regional motorsport culture, becoming the natural meeting point for historic rallies and classic car gatherings.

Between historical expertise and popular fervor, the museum has established itself as an essential cultural stop for anyone wishing to understand the sporting soul of the Central Pyrenees.
