Musée d'Histoire de la Médecine de Toulouse Museums in Toulouse

Meet on the left bank of the Garonne, in a medieval establishment listed by UNESCO since 1998. Located in the Hôtel-Dieu Saint-Jacques, it traces the evolution of medical practices through a rich collection of instruments, anatomical waxes and various objects.

Collections

The museum houses more than 3,000 objects illustrating 7 centuries of medical history. It features a fine collection of anatomical waxes, old surgical instruments , pharmaceutical devices, and many other objects testifying to medical advances over time.
The museum also highlights the history of Toulouse hospitals and the evolution of patient care.

History

Created in 1983, the museum was first housed in the Hôtel d'Assézat.
In 1991, it moved to the Hôtel-Dieu Saint-Jacques, where it shares the Viguerie wing with the Museum of Medical Instruments. It is the result of the work of passionate collectors, such as Doctor André Gaulle and Professor Jean-Charles Auvergnat, as well as private donations and deposits.
