Mado, an intimate restaurant where you can enjoy a delicious meal in the city center of Toulouse

Mado (Madeleine) is a nod to Léo's grandmother, the restaurant's owner, who passed on her passion for cooking to him. In his small restaurant, only 25 lucky diners enjoy his bistronomic cuisine at each service, comfortably seated on the banquette or in the plush armchairs. The cozy and welcoming atmosphere invites relaxation, a laid-back ambiance that makes you want to linger over this delicious treat after your coffee. In warmer weather, the pleasure continues on the terrace on Rue des Blanchers. Remember to book your table, as seating is limited at Mado!

We loved the concept of "small plates to share" (not so small after all), it was perfect for two! In the end, with four courses and two desserts to share, it easily amounted to a good tasting menu… The service was discreet, almost a little reserved, but above all very pleasant, friendly, and offered excellent advice! The wine suggestion was superb and perfectly complemented our dishes (a lovely Loire Chenin Blanc, nice and fresh, floral and mineral, just the way we like it). As for the flavors, for me, it was definitely a favorite! I love that all the dishes offered bold, honest, and confident flavors! Each dish had an acidity that stimulated the taste buds and gave the dish a lot of length and depth. I also appreciate that, even though I'm a meat lover at heart, there were one or two completely vegetarian options. Special mention goes to the Pak Choi, which was sublime, with a bold and unapologetic spicy kick that was perfectly controlled… it provided just the right amount of heat without ever being overpowering, it was perfect. The chef demonstrates that even a completely vegetarian dish can have a strong character and bold flavors. Also worth mentioning is the octopus, which I'm not usually a fan of, but which I thoroughly enjoyed. And I also loved the pastrami and stracciatella lasagna, a less intense, less complex dish, but incredibly comforting; you'd get up in the middle of the night to eat it… In short, it's a great place to discover new flavors, with a fantastic concept that allows you to try lots of new things! A tip: try ordering a few dishes that you're not necessarily fond of normally: that's often how you're surprised and blown away! When the chef is good, everything is good. Highly recommended, well done and thank you!
