About

  • English
    • The Roquefort-les-Cascades waterfalls are a remarkable natural site located in the Ariège department, in the heart of the French Pyrenees.

      Main features

These are petrifying waterfalls, meaning that the water, loaded with limestone, forms cascading rock deposits. This phenomenon creates a unique landscape with tuff formations and lush vegetation.

The main waterfall, called “la Turasse”, extends over a height of around 30 meters.

      Practical advice

Access to the site is free and open year-round. Parking is available nearby.

To admire these waterfalls and their limestone-hardened shell, you need to take a short hike of about 1.5 hours round trip, starting from the Carol church. Yellow markings.

Visit in autumn and spring, when there is water likely to be present in the waterfalls. It is recommended to wear good walking shoes, as the terrain can be slippery.
