MONT VALIER National Forest Natural sites in Seix

The Mont-Valier national reserve is one of the oldest in the Pyrenees. Its highest point is the venerable Massif du Valier at 2,838m. It is a reserve, protected and managed by the National Forestry Office to preserve the exceptional fauna and flora it shelters. It welcomes the public, hikers wishing to explore this wild territory and learn more about the natural environment.

Patients and wildlife enthusiasts will be able to see all kinds of birds, birds of prey, as well as marmots and other mountain mammals. In summer, sheep, numbering around 6,500, will be your hiking companions. They are part of an eco-pastoralism project to maintain the openness and beauty of the landscapes. Many trails cross the massif, including the GR10 as well as other paths that the tourist offices will inform you about.
