A museum, a place

For what ?

The MUB – Museum of Wood and Marquetry in Revel – was born from a local tradition of fine craftsmanship and a desire to create a place that showcases the skills of the men and women who keep it alive today. In collaboration with various stakeholders in the "Aux Sources du Canal du Midi" region (Revel School of Arts and Crafts, Wood and Furniture Trades, Cabinetmakers & Designers), the museum and its team invite you to discover new exhibition projects throughout the year, highlighting the current and past creations of local artisans.

How ?

The MUB takes you on a journey from Tree to Art through several spaces: the xylotheque, a "wood library" that lists more than 200 wood species ; a crafts area, which presents a collection of tools used by artisans; and a furniture display, which showcases local expertise by illustrating Revel's creations of yesterday and today.

Finally, the museum has set itself several objectives to renew the interest of our visitors:

• Preserving and disseminating the heritage of Revel artisans
• To inspire vocations by showcasing the opportunities offered by the arts and crafts professions and their potential for advancement.
• To contribute to the promotion of a technique that has become rare, marquetry, as well as one of its main production centers: Revel
• To be recognized as a dynamic cultural hub
• Unveiling local, regional, and national artistic treasures.
• to promote skills and artistic craftsmanship

For whom?

• The museum is aimed at all art lovers, those who love wood and woodworking, and young people looking for a vocation.
• Today, the museum welcomes approximately 10,000 visitors and 1,500 schoolchildren each year.
