Musée Départemental de la Résistance et de la Déportation Museums in Toulouse

The Departmental Museum of Resistance and Deportation (MDR&D) in Toulouse is an important place of remembrance which retraces the history of the Second World War in Haute-Garonne, with an emphasis on the Resistance and Deportation.

History and mission

The museum was inaugurated in 1994 for the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Toulouse. Its mission is to transmit the memory of this dark period of history, focusing on the Vichy dictatorship, the Occupation, the Resistance and the Deportation.
The museum fulfills a triple mission : historical, memorial and civic.

Collections and exhibitions

The museum houses a collection of nearly 8,000 period objects and documents.
The permanent exhibition traces the course of events, from the rise of fascism to the Liberation and reconstruction. One section is dedicated to the Deportation.
The museum also offers temporary exhibitions, conferences, screenings and workshops.
