Musée Saint-Raymond, Musée des Antiquités de Toulouse Museums in Toulouse

The Saint-Raymond Museum, Toulouse Museum of Antiquities, is an archaeological museum located in the city center of Toulouse, near the Saint-Sernin Basilica.

History and Architecture

The building that houses the museum is a former university college built in the 16th century, making it a place of historical interest in itself. The museum opened in 1892.

Collections

The Saint-Raymond Museum houses a rich collection of antiquities, mainly from the Toulouse region and dating from the Roman era.
The permanent collections feature sculptures, everyday objects, sarcophagi, mosaics and other archaeological remains.

Archaeological site

The museum is also an archaeological site, with remains discovered during excavations on site. You can visit the remains of lime kilns, or the remains of an ancient cemetery.
