History and Architecture
This Baroque-style convent chapel bears witness to the evolution of religious art in Toulouse. Its architecture, with its single nave and apse, is relatively sober, but the interior is richly decorated.
It was classified as a historic monument in 1909.
Exceptional Interior Decor
The ceilings and walls are decorated with magnificent paintings by Jean-Pierre Rivals and then Jean-Baptiste Despax, two masters of classical Toulouse painting.
These frescoes, inspired by the Sistine Chapel, are a masterpiece of Baroque art and tell the story of Carmel.Today
Deconsecrated, the chapel is today a cultural place which hosts music concerts and exhibitions.
