Hôtel Dieu-Saint-Jacques Historic Monument in Toulouse

Although it is referred to as a hotel, it has served as a hospital since the 12th century, with a pleasant setting as it is located on the banks of the Garonne.

Its history is closely linked to that of the Saint-Marie-de-la-Daurade hospital and that of the Nouvel hospital, which eventually became one, the Hôtel Dieu-Saint-Jacques. Between the 17th and 18th centuries, its numerous expansions made it the largest hospital in Toulouse.

The structure now houses the administrative center of the CHU, the European Institute of Telemedicine as well as the European center for research on skin and lining epithelia.

It is also classified as a Historic Monument, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and appears on the Way of St. James of Compostela titles.
