La Verrière is a truly unique restaurant in Toulouse, a must-try if you're looking for gourmet cuisine (without breaking the bank!). Treat yourself to a surprise tasting menu at lunchtime or in the evening, with options to accommodate allergies, intolerances, or dietary restrictions, and a wine pairing option. The food is excellent and of high quality, the welcome is warm, the staff is delightful, and La Verrière provides an idyllic setting for a romantic lunch or dinner. Arriving around 8:00 PM, we were surprised to find ourselves in front of a display of local products in what initially looked like a small local grocery store selling fresh produce! It wasn't a mistake; this restaurant also sells the products it uses, so why not?! A friendly woman greeted us and then led us through a long, narrow, low-ceilinged corridor to the dining room. We were immediately struck by a slightly uncomfortable feeling of confinement. The room was packed, with no windows, just a glass panel in the ceiling. After this initial surprise, we adjusted, and the choreography of service and the dishes could begin. We were presented with the menus and placed our orders. The evening menus are surprise tasting menus of four or five courses... Our first tastes were a pleasant surprise; everything was excellent, the products were high-quality and fresh. The first fish dish was cooked a little too long, but the second was perfect after we pointed it out. In the end, the experience was satisfactory, even good, but not particularly memorable. The reasons: hard to say, perhaps related to the small size of the place, the lack of windows, or even basic tablecloths or placemats...or perhaps a feeling of confinement due to the number of customers! Worth noting: the friendly and highly professional service provided by the waitresses. Thank you to them.
