    • Cauterets is a charming commune in the Hautes-Pyrénées, located in the heart of the French Pyrenees. It is about 30 minutes south of Lourdes and about 200 km southwest of Toulouse.

A thermal and winter sports resort

Cauterets is renowned for its sulphurous thermal waters, used to treat various ailments.

It is also a popular ski resort, with two ski areas: Cirque du Lys (downhill skiing) and Pont d'Espagne (cross-country and downhill skiing).

      An exceptional natural environment

The town is surrounded by magnificent landscapes, with mountains, waterfalls and lakes.

      • The Pont d'Espagne, a listed site, is a popular hiking spot, offering spectacular views of the waterfalls and surrounding peaks.
      • Lake Gaube, accessible by chairlift or on foot, is another unmissable site , with a magnificent panorama of the Vignemale, the highest peak in the French Pyrenees.

      A picturesque village

Cauterets has retained its old-world charm : traditional houses, narrow streets and local shops.

Don’t miss the local sweets : berlingots !

The welcome was very pleasant, efficient, and well-organized. All the information I needed for my stay was provided with a big smile. I also received very helpful information very quickly in response to an email, which allowed me to plan my stay with peace of mind.

The reckless driver who takes the shuttle up to the Pont d'Espagne is not only incompetent but also incredibly arrogant, and he charges the same price for a one-way ticket in cash. I only realized afterward that the price was €4.50 for a one-way trip, not €8 as he initially quoted. This extremely unpleasant man is a disgrace.
