"A JOURNEY INTO THE UNDERGROUND WORLD OF THE PIC DU JER"

The guided tour of the highest developed caves in France will take you into the underground gallery of the Pic du Jer, on an easily accessible route 360 meters long.

The history of the caves

20,000 years ago, as the glaciers melted, water seeped in and carved out the summit of the Pic du Jer. Rock debris accumulated and blocked the bottom of the caves, as well as the natural opening at the start of the tour, leaving only a few meters of passage accessible. Work was then undertaken to connect the various crevasses and natural cavities located beneath the summit of the Pic. The caves have been open to the public since 1958.

The visit in brief

The tour, which runs along the 360-meter gallery, consists of 11 chambers. You can admire concretions ranging from the oldest to the most recent (stalactites, stalagmites, and draperies) and be impressed by the sinkholes (the deepest being 45 meters). You will pass by large fissures, evidence of the formation of the Pyrenees.

Upon exiting the gallery, a landscape interpretation will be offered, concluding this wonderful discovery of the underground world.

A certain number of children is required to design a pricing proposal.
We have educational materials available. The price for the funicular ride is €4.50 per child (under 17 years old). One accompanying adult is free for groups of 8 or more children.

Seminars, birthdays, business meetings, family meals, cocktail parties. We offer a package including a meal and a funicular ride starting from €25 per person. We have a room with seating for 30.
