    • The Saint-Jean-Baptiste church in Campan, located in the Hautes-Pyrénées department, is a remarkable historical monument.


      History and Architecture

      Built in the 16th century, it was partially rebuilt after a fire in 1694.
      It has a single nave ending in a seven-sided chevet.
      Its bell tower is the part of the building built from cut stone.
      The nave is covered with a wooden vault with ribbed vaults, the arches of which are decorated with hanging keystones.
      There are also remains of a cloister on two sides.


      Remarkable elements

      • The semicircular portal dates from 1562.
      • An 18th-century Baroque altarpiece, the work of the Ferrère d'Asté brothers' school.
      • Wall paneling and furniture dating from the 18th century.
      • The church gallery, supported by four faux marble columns.
