THE OSSSE VALLEY WITH FAMILY OR FRIENDS, SNOWSHOEING WITH A MOUNTAIN GUIDE

The barns of Cap d'Ossèse are nestled in the heart of the Ossèse valley at the foot of the Col de Marterat in the Ustou valley. If there is sufficient snow, they are accessible by snowshoe, you will leave the vehicles 1 hour walk (or less). The Ossèse valley is then covered in white, its many old barns asleep, only the stream disrupts the ambient calm. If there is no snow, the climb will also be done on foot with your backpacks for two days.

Higher up on the heights of the valley above the Lastien waterfall (the waterfall of the fairies as some ancients said), the Iberian ibexes are in their winter quarters, in the snow-cleared cliffs. Some of the Pyrenean brown bears are in their den in the cross-border Ustou mountains.

During these two days, we will slowly explore the little corners of this valley, its expanses of snow in the meadows along the stream, the fir beech forest, the waterfall, the hamlets of Ustou below, the classified cirque of Cagateille to world heritage. If necessary and depending on the snow conditions we can explore the glacial plateau of Ajeou or the wild slopes of the Guzet station.

Accommodation will take place at the Granges du Cap d'Ossèse, ideal for a family (up to 4 people each). One of the objectives will be not to get into a vehicle in order to take only the bare essentials in your backpack.
