The Jardin des Plantes in Toulouse is an emblematic green space in the city, rich in history and diversity.
History and location
It is a historic public garden, which has retained its original name, although it no longer fulfills its function as a botanical garden in the strict sense. The Jardin des Plantes is located southeast of Toulouse city center, in the Busca district.
It forms, with the Grand Rond and the Jardin Royal, a group of three public gardens dating from the 18th and 19th centuries.
Its characteristics
The garden covers an area of 7 hectares and offers a wide variety of landscapes : shaded paths, lawns, flowerbeds, fountains, and a small stream. It also contains century-old trees and sculptures.
