Chapelle Saint-Exupère d'Arreau Historic Monument in Arreau

The Saint-Exupère d'Arreau Chapel, also known as the Saint-Exupère d'Arreau Church, is a religious building located in Arreau, in the Hautes-Pyrénées department.

History and architecture

• It was built in the 16th century, probably replacing an older chapel.
• Its octagonal bell tower and its nave with Gothic arches make it a remarkable example of local architecture.
• Its size bears witness to its past political importance, as it served as a gathering place for representatives of the Aure Valley.
• The general assemblies of the enclaves of Aure were usually held in this chapel.
