Les Terroirs du Plantaurel, a delicious foie gras to taste in Ariège

Foie gras, what a treat ! Renowned for being a fine and refined dish, duck foie gras is a product appreciated by gourmands and gourmets. In Ariège, its production is not taken lightly, and even less so at Terroirs du Plantaurel, which carefully selects French poultry from the Occitane/Pyrénées-Méditerranées region, in Gers and Aveyron. Raised without GMOs and fed with white and yellow corn grain, they grow outdoors before being slaughtered and processed by disabled workers in the cutting room. Of unique quality with a distinctive and authentic taste, the foie gras from Terroirs du Plantaurel is labeled "Produit du Terroir" and can be found in different formats:

Les Terroirs du Plantaurel, organic wines produced in Ariège

Ariège wine production takes place at the Domaine du Sabarthès located in the Lèze Valley. Spread over 14 hectares, the vines, which have been organic since 2020, evolve over the seasons under oceanic, Mediterranean and mountainous influences, offering delicate and fragrant wines. Under the direction of the cellar master, workers with disabilities take care of the Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tannat grape varieties for the reds, the Chardonnay, Pinot and Sauvignon Gris grape varieties for the whites, and the Merlot and Cabernet Franc grape varieties for the rosés. The hand-harvested harvest allows for careful selection of the grapes taken to the vat to be vinified using the punching down process, before maturing in barrels in the air-conditioned cellars. Come to Terroirs du Plantaurel to taste the delicious fruity wines that restore Ariège wine to its former glory, with flagship vintages as well as award-winning vintages such as the Vignals Rouge Cuvée 2016 which won the Gold Medal at the 2021 Féminalise Competition.

Beautiful encounters, sharing, exchanges and above all a lot of love are the main ingredients of this APAJH association whose mission is to integrate people with disabilities through work. This strong value of inclusion today allows more than 60 people to get involved in promoting their region thanks to the structures of the Adapted Company “Le Sabarthès” andthe ESAT “Le Sabarthès”, located in Montégut-Plantaurel and Mercenac.

A genuine company, it offers an exceptional setting to people with disabilities and the opportunity to build a sustainable professional project. Each employee is supported in their mission to promote and market the sublime products of the Terroirs du Plantaurel.

The ESAT “Le Sabarthès”

This medical-social establishment works daily alongside people with disabilities to offer them work adapted to their desires and skills within the Terroirs du Plantaurel facilities. Whether in the cannery, on the farm, in the cellars, in the heart of the vineyards, or even in the plucking area, they work in a supervised work environment to progress at their own pace with specific educational tools.

Les Terroirs du Plantaurel, multiple workshops offered to adults and young people with disabilities in Ariège

Although the production of duck foie gras and organic wines are the association's main activities, the workers are also entrusted with the mission of promoting the Ariège region through numerous adapted spaces:

• The slaughter, cutting and processing workshop for poultry and ducks.
• The cannery for packaging foie gras, pâtés, rillettes or ready meals.
• Farm breeding between sheep and poultry.
• Maintenance of green spaces on the farm.
• The kitchen where meals delivered to schools, retirement homes or other communities are prepared, as well as meals for residents.
