    • The Caves of Médous are divided into two parts: a lower gallery called the “Dry Gallery” and an upper one called the “Gallery of Wonders”.

The richness of the concretions, the beauty of the underground river, the structure of the cave, the exceptional location of the entrance enjoying a unique setting and ease of access are all elements which ensure a tourist value of the highest order.

Along the route, you can discover the most diverse concretions: Stalactites, Stalagmites, Eccentrics, Columns or Gours and petrified Cascades.

Although Médous is today considered a remarkable tourist site, the place has already enjoyed a reputation of another order over the centuries. Until the end of the 18th century, it was a place of pilgrimage following the apparition of the Virgin Mary to a little shepherdess named Liloye. The miraculous reputation acquired by Médous made the site one of the three most important sanctuaries dedicated to Marian worship in the diocese of Tarbes-Lourdes. With the smallest chapel established on the site, dedicated to Our Lady of Médous, in October 2000 at the initiative of the Bishop of Tarbes-Lourdes, the pilgrimage took place as part of the events of the Jubilee year.

Before visiting the Medous Caves, you will enter the green park, the starting and ending point of this unforgettable visit. There you will find beautiful trees shading numerous streams fed by a semi-circular basin. This basin stops the waters of the spring gushing in torrents from two neighboring cavities.
