Perched at an altitude of 1570 meters, the Hôtel du Cirque et de la Cascade is located at the foot of the Cirque de Gavarnie, doubly classified as a world, natural and cultural heritage site by Unesco and in the heart of the Pyrenees National Park.

The establishment is located 4 kilometers from the village of Gavarnie, accessible only on foot or on horseback, facing the Grande Cascade (422 meters high), which makes it the essential stopover for discovering this extraordinary limestone circus. .

Since 1845, seven generations of the same family have succeeded each other at the controls of this place steeped in history.
Initiated by the Duke of Montpensier, declaimed by the greatest painters and writers of our heritage (Gustave Flaubert, Victor Hugo etc…) and explored by the greatest mountain guides, live a unique experience by immersing yourself in the Circus over time a meal or a night...

All our rooms are located facing the Circus and their equipment corresponds to the standards of the 4-star classification (bathroom with shower and/or bathtub, bathrobes, separate toilets in 7 rooms, king and queen size beds, air conditioning and heating, Nespresso machine etc…).

A sauna, located on the top floor of the hotel, is available to our customers in order to be able to relax completely after the hike.

We also offer yoga mats for the more experienced in order to take full advantage of the surrounding tranquility.

On the first floor, a private lounge allows our guests to relax facing the Circus while enjoying the games tables and the library.

Outside, hotel guests can enjoy a private terrace facing the Circus.

Accessibility

The hotel is located 4 kilometers from the village of Gavarnie.
It is accessible by vehicle to the village of Gavarnie then on foot or on horseback to complete the 4 kilometers of trails remaining to be covered.
Patrons of the brewery will have to walk or rent a mount in the village.

For customers of the hotel part and according to the formula chosen when booking, the climb will be:
On foot for walkers (1 hour). You will leave your vehicle in a public car park in the village and the climb is naturally towards the circus.
We recommend equipment suitable for mountain hiking (pair of basketball shoes, rainwear and warm clothes, a water bottle).
By hybrid vehicle at certain times only (specific time slots linked to our location in the heart of the Park) as part of the room reservation.

Access to the village of Gavarnie

For customers staying at the hotel, a transfer service is offered from Lourdes and its airport according to the formula chosen when booking the room.

The village of Gavarnie is located at:

• 50 km from Lourdes.
• 50 kms from Lourdes SNCF station (daily TGV and night train from Paris).
• 60 kms (1 hour) from Tarbes/Lourdes airport.
• 90 kms (1H30) from Pau airport.
• 2h30 from Toulouse airport.
• 2h30 from Biarritz airport.
• 3h30 from Bordeaux airport.

A bus line connects Lourdes to Gavarnie.
Taxi services are also available from the village of Gavarnie, Lourdes, Luz st Sauveur and train stations.

Luggage

A luggage transport service (included in the room rate) is provided from the souvenir shop "la boutique du Marboré" in a hybrid vehicle.
Luggage can be left all day between 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. but will only be transported to the hotel during the time slots authorized by the National Park.

Luggage will therefore be brought to the hotel after 6 p.m. and must be left at the hotel reception before 9 a.m. on the day of departure.

We therefore advise our friendly clientele of walkers to wear a small backpack with the bare essentials in order to limit our impact on the environment as much as possible.

For people who have chosen the Hiker formula, a backpack and a rain poncho will be lent to you when you arrive in the village of Gavarnie at the Boutique du Marboré (included in the service). You will have to return it at the end of your stay in the same place.
