- The Restaurant Le Schuss welcomes you in a friendly atmosphere at Grand Tourmalet, located at the foot of the Pic du Midi to Bagnères-de-Bigorre en Hautes-Pyrénées (65) and open all day, 7 days a week, this real living space offers you the opportunity to taste its delicious mountain specialities in a cosy and warm atmosphere.
  
  This small chalet looks like a cocooning tea room and offers pancakes, ice creams and other sweet pleasures. Gourmet coffees and teas are prepared on site with homemade pastries.
  
  Come and have breakfast facing the Pyrenees on the terrace and enjoy our new cable car (4 people).
  
  Open only for lunch in June, September and November !

It's expensive for what it is... 18€ for a board on which there is a miserable potato cut in half, two slices of chorizo (about 6 grams), 3 salad leaves, two forks of bacon and slices of cheese cut so thinly that they stick in the pan... So you order extra fries, absolutely disgusting fries but 5€ per portion for frozen... The waiter asks you if you want mayonnaise, you say yes but it will never arrive. Same for the dessert menu, it is offered to you but it does not come, so 20 minutes later you decide to leave and at the cash register he is surprised that there was no dessert... Honestly at one time it was THE restaurant to go to, but it will give the opportunity to try the others next time. It has become a tourist trap.

Beautiful scenic drive up from Bag êtes de Bigorre to La Mongie. On advice and to avoid disappointment we had pre booked Le Schuss restaurant. Glad we did, at its peak they were turning customers...

All of the restaurants at La Mongie have similar menus and I think this one deserves it's current rating as the best of them all. It's also the best for coeliacs as there are plenty of gluten free...

Overcooked dried out oven chips, a ropey bit of steak and an insects portion of salad. Wife had a selection of meats soaked in fat! I'm googling how to do CPR . Too crammed inside, where you pay...
