"A JOURNEY INTO THE UNDERGROUND WORLD OF PIC DU JER"
The guided tour of the highest developed caves in France will take you into the underground gallery of the Pic du Jer, on an easily accessible route 360 meters long.
HISTORY OF CAVES
20,000 years ago, when the glaciers melted, water infiltrated and carved out the Pic du Jer at its summit. Rocky debris was deposited and blocked the bottom of the chasms as well as the natural opening at the start of the visit, leaving only a few meters of passage accessible. Work was then undertaken to connect the various crevasses and natural cavities located under the summit of the Pic. The caves have been open to the public since 1958.
THE VISIT IN BRIEF
11 rooms make up the route of the visit along the 360-meter gallery. You will be able to admire concretions from the oldest to the most recent (stalactites, stalagmites and draperies) and you will be impressed by the chasms (the deepest of 45 meters). You will pass in front of large faults, testifying to the formation of the Pyrenees.
At the exit of the gallery, a landscape reading will be offered to you to close this beautiful discovery of the underground world.
SCHOOL:
the number of children is necessary for the design of a price proposal.
We apply free admission from 15 children. We have educational sheets, and we can organize tours for you. The price for the ascent of the funicular is 3.50€/child (under 17 years old)
GROUPS:
from 15 people, adults and children.
PRIVATE EVENTS:
seminars, birthdays, work meetings, family meals, cocktails. We offer a catering + funicular ride from 25€/person. We have a room with 50 seats.
