Lakes, leisure parks and swimming spots around Toulouse

It's summer, the weather is beautiful, it's hot! Are you near Toulouse and fancy a swim? Between the Garonne, the rivers and the lakes of the Toulouse region, you are spoiled for choice.

Whether you prefer to stay in the Toulouse metropolitan area to enjoy the comfort and infrastructure of the Pink City, or are more tempted by a more natural environment, the surrounding lakes and water sports centers offer something for everyone. Cool off on the waterways of the Toulouse metropolitan area

The Toulouse metropolitan area is quite vast and encompasses natural spaces that delight the locals. Close to the city, yet in the countryside for a change of scenery, the leisure parks are little slices of paradise for families.

• At the Wam Park leisure center on Lake Sesquières, you can satisfy all your desires: paddleboard, kayak, and canoe rentals, sailing lessons, water games, towed inflatables… And why not try a more unusual activity : water skiing or wakeboarding ? Outside the leisure center, the lake's surroundings are also very well equipped with picnic tables, restrooms, a playground and sports area, a bar, and a brasserie … But please note: swimming is prohibited except during water sports activities.
• Accessible by bus from Toulouse city centre, the Ramée Leisure Centre in Tournefeuille offers all kinds of sports and leisure activities to please the whole family. Swimming is also permitted from 12pm to 7pm at "Ramée Beach".

• The Thésauque Lake leisure park offers all the necessary amenities and a children's playground. But what families really love are the inflatable water park attractions at Aquaparc Toulouse. If you prefer a more relaxed activity, you can rent a pedal boat.

You need to cool off, but you're not adventurous enough to swim in the great outdoors. Swimming pools are perfect for you:

• The Nakache swimming pool has two pools: one is open for the summer and the other is covered for the winter. This is also the case for the Bellevue swimming pool.
• The Ancely and Chapou swimming pools are only accessible in summer, as their pools are outdoors. They have the advantage of offering a solarium.
• The Toulouse-Lautrec, Papus and Pech David swimming pools have a removable cover. Depending on the weather, you can swim in the shade or enjoy the sun.
• The Castex and Parc des Sports swimming pools have Olympic-sized pools. You might even be able to break some records there!
• Several indoor swimming pools are available for rainy days: Alban Minville, Alex Jany, Jean Boiteux swimming pools.

Having fun at the leisure parks in the Toulouse region

• The Awake Park leisure center on Lake Braguessou is a former gravel pit. This unique location has been completely redesigned and developed to welcome you. Swimming is supervised, and barbecues are available for your picnics. On-site, you can try wakeboarding, paddleboarding, and even water skiing !
• La Source Wake Park on the Carbonne lake offers a wide range of activities for adults and children aged 6 and up. Aqua park, cable wakeboarding, stand-up paddleboarding – you're sure to have a blast! Younger children can enjoy the playground, while parents take advantage of the sports fields or play a game of pétanque.
• The Bruguières Lake Leisure Centre has a major draw for families: its miniature port, "Ti'Pirates". Swimming isn't allowed on this body of water, but it offers an unforgettable family experience. Children can try their hand at sailing aboard electric boats. The boats accommodate up to four people, and you can share this activity with even the youngest members of the family. Laughter guaranteed!
• At Original Green Park on Lake Bessières, you'll experience thrilling adventures: water skiing and wakeboarding! You can also rent stand-up paddleboards or simply relax in the sun on their terrace…
• At Lac de l'Orme Blanc, in the commune of Caraman, east of Toulouse and not far from the Tarn River, there are no noisy leisure facilities, but you will appreciate the peace and tranquility. Between its sandy beach and shaded lawns, it's a relaxing and friendly spot for families. You can swim, fish, or stroll along the lake's edge.

Go canoeing on the Garonne, the Ariège or the Canal du Midi

While swimming in the banks of the Garonne and Ariège rivers is tempting during the summer, caution is advised. The river can be treacherous, especially after a storm. Swimming is also prohibited in the surrounding rivers, as the bottom can drop sharply to depths of 3 to 4 meters in some places.

It's a very pleasant and refreshing sport, and you can admire this still unspoiled environment from the water. Furthermore, they will be able to point out the authorized and recommended swimming areas.

Relax during a cruise on the Garonne

The Bateaux Toulousains offer wonderful excursions on the Garonne River and the Canal du Midi. They offer themed cruises of varying lengths. For a different perspective on the Pink City and its surroundings, you can also take a nighttime cruise. It's a great way to discover the region and enjoy the cool river air without getting tired or wet!
