ski resort in the Pyrenees for all levels, for over 50 years

In Gavarnie-Gèdre, the big star is the snow. With an exceptional natural snowfall, a quality and fresh snowpack, it is a tempting playground for alpine skiing enthusiasts, as for lovers of the beauties of the mountain in winter! The region of Gavarnie-Gèdre, the Mont Perdu massif, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for its dual cultural and natural value. A rare recognition, which underlines the extraordinary character of this natural environment! It is for this reason that since 1971, when the ski resort opened its doors, a reasoned and controlled establishment has made it possible to preserve these invaluable treasures of which the Cirques de Gavarnie, Troumouse and Estaubé are part. The region has also been awarded the Grand Site Occitanie label: you can be sure that you will come on holiday to a place like no other...

It is said that Gavarnie is the cradle of Pyreneanism, this frank and holistic love of steep and generous mountains, as much for the sporting and spiritual benefits that they offer to those who climb them, as for their aesthetics and the way of staying there. The second strong point of Gavarnie-Gèdre are its breathtaking views... You are facing some of the highest and most emblematic peaks of the Pyrenees, such as the Brèche de Roland.

In 2021, Gavarnie-Gèdre celebrates its 50th anniversary, a half-century rich in emotions, where the resort has seen some of the most daring skiers pass by! Gavarnie-Gèdre is the epicenter of speed skiing in the Pyrenees: it is here that in 1985, the brothers Bruno and Jean-Lou Montes organized the first launched kilometer event in the Pyrenees! In 2022, a French Open and two FIS European Cups will take place at the resort, to thrill 37 years later, the hearts of lovers of skiing!

A resort for everyone, to start and grow

Gavarnie-Gèdre offers a beautiful panel of pleasant trails to navigate, while remaining a place on a human scale. Perhaps you took your first steps in the snow, learned to use a ski lift or did your first turns? You will love to go there with your children, whatever their age, or with friends for a friendly stay, where the pleasure of sport is not spoiled by long queues. Here, everyone ski at their own pace and with respect. Come and marvel at the wild nature, contemplate with solemnity the majestic force of the immense mountains which rise in the distance!

The Gavarnie-Gèdre ski area consists of 27 slopes (7 green, 9 blue, 7 red, 4 black), spread over 34km of descent and served by 7 ski lifts (2 chairlifts and 5 ski lifts). It's a good distribution, which allows you to start, but also to progress and have fun when you reach a good level. The resort is also the host of the longest green slope in the Pyrenees, Les Marmottes, which will see the youngest descend with confidence, over 5.5km of fresh snow. So that the whole family will find pleasure there and that beginners improve their skills at their own pace, the chairlifts allow access to more complex and technical slopes, until they can descend in one go, the top of the station to the top of the resort at the foot of the slopes!
