Winter sports resort Ariegeoise with an exceptional setting, 1h30 from Toulouse, the Plateau de Beille (1800m above sea level) welcomes many visitors every winter in search of Nordic winter sports. Former breeding ground, the ski area has been open since 1989. It consists of 14 tracks.
You can indulge in the pleasures of cross-country skiing, snowshoe hikes and take advantage of the dog sled school for unforgettable walks . You can even learn how to build your own igloo! mountain bike trails are arranged and several hiking trails allow you to discover the unique flora and fauna of this place.
The Plateau de Beille is bounded by the Aston and Labail, two tributaries of the Ariège. It is a natural area of ecological, faunistic and floristic interest (ZNIEFF): pines and peat bogs, chamois and eagles enliven the landscape. It is an enchanting place, both in winter and in summer, where there are many hikes. The Tour de France passes regularly on the Plateau de Beille which also hosts many other cycling races (cyclosportifs de l'Ariégeoise).
