Ax-les-Thermes Thermal towns in Ax-les-Thermes

The thermal baths at the Ax 3 Domaines ski resort boast very hot waters, reaching temperatures of up to 77°C. Historically, people went there primarily to treat lepers. Its name, Bassin des Ladres, reflects this function and was built by the Count of Foix in the 13th century.

Many spa guests come here every year to recharge their batteries and enjoy the benefits of these waters, as the thermal baths treat rheumatism, respiratory problems and sciatica.
Three establishments are known: Couloubret, Teich, and Modèle. Ax-les-Thermes is one of the first major spa towns in France, dating back to the 18th century. There are over 70 springs in and around the town.
