  We decided to take a detour and stop here for lunch during a drive to San Sebastian and had a wonderful experience! The drive was about 25 minutes once we began the real ascent on a fairly decent road with some parts partially paved and the rest fully paved. We noted there are two routes to get up there and were told the one we took is a better quality road (the road from Espiadet). The views were stunning and the uphill drive was well worth it, especially for the breathtaking view from up top! We arrived later in the afternoon and were told it was too late for lunch but they offered to make us a stew if we waited a few minutes. We sat outside, admired the incredible views, listened to and watched the cows nearby and ate the most delicious, home cooked stew! The experience was a highlight of our trip and I wish I could have taken some with me. The staff were so kind and we would encourage anyone to visit here for a detour on a road trip or as a destination on your drive through the Pyrenees.

  I did not stay at the auberge overnight but did eat there - great food, great friendly service and beautiful views !
