It's springtime: Tourist sites to see the first buds

It's springtime: Tour ...

The starting gun has been fired! Spring is here, and with it, the promise of milder days. While the sun may still be playing hide-and-seek at times, nature waits for no one. Are you on holiday or spending a weekend in Haute-Garonne, the Hautes-Pyrénées, or Ariège ? Here are our favorite spots to witness the awakening of the flora and enjoy the Pyrenean renewal.

Strolling through beautiful gardens

Gardens are magnificent places, tended with love and passion. They are the ideal place to see nature awaken in the city and urban areas. If the countryside It is beautiful all year round; in spring, the leaves grow to produce a range of almost fluorescent shades of green ! The birds sing, the flowers are multicolored, and the grasses are tall in the fields.

  • Let's head towards Pamiers, to Lapenne, where you'll find the Bamboo Park. While bamboo plants have leaves almost all year round, they go dormant in winter and awaken in spring. This is the perfect time to see the bamboo shoots, the young buds! With informative panels, you can stroll among several species and magnificent trees.
  • A true marvel, the Château de Merville ! A hedge maze, just 20 kilometers from Toulouse, is what awaits you. It's the largest boxwood maze in Europe ! Perfect for playing Alice in Wonderland... A magnificent 18th-century château that will delight you and transport you back in time for a day. The château and its grounds are set on 30 hectares of greenery ; the exterior is a listed historical monument and a remarkable garden : a bucolic and relaxing stroll just a few kilometers from the beautiful Pink City.

Meet animals

Spring is also the time when animals emerge from their winter slumber. Combining wildlife observation with the blossoming of nature is pure bliss.

  • If you don't know it, spring is the perfect time to discover the famous Pyrenees Animal Park ! 14 hectares of wild and unspoiled nature ! In the heart of the mountains, you'll encounter (adorable) marmots, seasoned climbers like ibex and mouflon, and a biodiversity full of surprises.
  • In the northwest of the Haute-Garonne department lies Animaparc, an exceptional place to spend a wonderful day surrounded by animals and local flora. Numerous attractions are available for children, including a small amusement park. The shaded park also offers a picnic area and free parking.

Outdoor activities to enjoy nature

Whether you're looking for sporty, calming, or relaxing activities, there are plenty of outdoor options to enjoy in nature as the weather warms up. We suggest a few unique activities.

  • What could be better than enjoying nature while having fun ? That's the idea behind mini-golf ! In a 5,000 m² park complete with waterfalls, ponds, and landscaping (just like a full-size golf course), come and swing your club with family or friends! The Bagnères-de-Bigorre mini-golf course was created in the 1950s. It consists of 18 holes at the foot of Mont Bédat, and you can even hit a few balls on the ping-pong tables located in the park.
  • Greenways are perfect for exploring nature by bike. They're safe for children and those less experienced with cycling, and their elevation changes are often minimal. To make the most of your experience, don't forget your helmet and let's go!
